Honoring our Veterans

Happy Veterans Day.

It seems a sort of odd greeting, doesn't it? It's not like Thanksgiving or Valentine's Day when we collectively celebrate our blessings and loved ones. While we may love our veterans and be thankful for them, it's not all fuzzy feel good stuff. Honoring our veterans comes with the knowledge and recognition that they have done something hard, something extraordinary, not for their own personal gain, but at great personal cost.

We should certainly be appreciative, and we should say thank you - to our friends and family who are veterans, to the homeless guys downtown that are veterans, to the mothers and fathers who have given their children or left their children to serve our country now.

Say "thank you" to someone today for their service and sacrifice. It's a small price to pay for such a great gift.
